[A witness story]
When I was newly ordained I was stationed at Holy Rosary in East Memphis. I joined the Altar Society (I don’t think any priest before was a dues paying member). So, I was at their meeting when someone came in and told us that an individual had collapsed in the parking lot. (The room where I was happened to be near the parking lot.) So, I ran out; got my oils from my car; and anointed the person. The ambulance arrived and took her to St. Francis Hospital. She was dead. Her family believes , to this day, that I was at a place to do this (where you wouldn’t expect me to be) because the person had been a faithful celebrant of the First Friday Devotion. (One of the promises to St. Margaret Mary was: “They shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments.”)
Today, is First Friday of October 2014.
