St. Ignatius of Antioch was an early church bishop and martyr. He wrote letters on his way to Rome to give his life for the faith. In the Liturgy of the Hours we read excerpts from them. He kept saying that he didn’t want anyone to interfere with his impending death by trying to come to his defense.
