November 19, 2014 (LK 19:11-28)

Today’s Gospel reading is Luke’s version of the Gospel from Matthew that we heard this past Sunday. Like Sunday’s Gospel, servants are entrusted with money to invest while the master is gone. Again, one was afraid and hid the coin in a handkerchief. He was fearful of his master. We have no need to fear our master as we await His return. Jesus wants us to be like Him; to love and have compassion like Him. If we do that, then we will use the “coin” He gives us in such a way that we will share in His Kingdom for all eternity.
