December 3, 2014 (Memorial of St.Francis Xavier)

Today we have a Required Memorial for one of the great missionaries of all time: St. Francis Xavier (I was taught 9 of my first 12 years by Xaverian Brothers). He called out Europe for its shortsightedness: “I am seized with the thought of going to the University of Paris, crying out like a man who has lost is mind to those who have a greater regard for learning than for producing with it.” So, he went to Asia.

Today, we all need to be missionaries but we don’t have to go to India or China or Japan. We need to be missionaries in our families, our neighborhoods, our cities.
