December 31, 2014 (1 Jn 2:18-21)

“Children, it is the last hour.” Our First Reading for mass today tells us what we already know. Many will stay up tonight watching the old year go out as the ball descends to begin a new year, 2015. It’s time to look back. How are we different/better having lived through 2014? How is our relationship to God and our neighbor? If it’s not better now than it was at the end of 2013, what a waste of a year. God’s graces are there for the taking. Today is a time to grow and give thanks. It’s time to pray for the year ahead. May it be better. May we grow in our love of God and neighbor. Let us pray for a new year of peace and grace for all of good will.
