John, in his writings, talks so much about “love” that he is often referred to as “the apostle of love.” When John writes of love he means something particular. We often have various meanings for “love” many of which revolve around the emotions, or feelings. For John, “love” has nothing to do with feelings but our actions. Do we care for our neighbor? “Love” has to be sacrificial not emotional. That’s why Jesus is the example of love for us.
