“Love your enemies.” This is from the end of the Sermon on the Mount. Before this, we hear Jesus say: turn the other cheek; give your cloak as well; go the extra mile; give and lend. Jesus is very demanding. The priority is always on “love.” Love God and neighbor. Not easy for many people. We must reject violence and recognize the innate dignity of the other person. Why? Because we are all made in the image and likeness of God and deserve dignity. God loves us; we must love others. Since we have known God’s love in our lives, we must share that kind of love with others.
