“Lord, I am not worthy to have You enter under my roof.” Sometimes, we forget how much of the mass is built directly or indirectly on Sacred Scripture. The new translation of the mass has drawn our attention to this fact just like the quote that started this blog. Even though we may “not be worthy” Jesus does enter under our roofs. His love is unconditional. Just like a child doesn’t “earn” the parent’s love, we don’t “earn” the love God has for us. What we must do is be grateful and love in return (see yesterday’s blog of the poem by Hopkins). God’s love is a gift freely given. We don’t have to be perfect to have this love. Let us show our gratitude for God’s love by loving Him back and joyfully sharing that love with others.
