August 19, 2015 (Matt 20:1-16)

This section of the Gospel of Matthew is the parable of the “Workers in the Vineyard.” Even though they agreed to the customary wage, the ones who worked all day in the hot sun thought they deserved to get more than the ones who didn’t work all day. They thought that the Master would do “justice.” Instead, the Master was generous to those who didn’t work all day. It just wasn’t “fair,” they thought. Do you want a God who wields only justice or one who is generous?
