Sept. 8, 2015 (Social Teachings of the Catholic Church)

All the Church’s social teachings are built on the foundation of proclaiming that all human life is sacred because each of us are made in the “image and likeness of God.” Moreover, each human being is also “social”, that is, we are part of society. “It is not good for the man to be alone.” The core of society is built on the family and the institution of marriage. In our society today, the sacredness of human life and the family are under attack by: abortion, euthanasia, cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and the excessive use of the death penalty. Terrorism and war target society’s foundations, especially the killing of the most vulnerable in society. If human rights are to protected, the right to life of every human being must be upheld.
