Sept. 24, 2015 (Haggai 1:1-8)

“Whoever earned wages earned them for a bag with holes in it.” Haggai was a “Minor Prophet” who lived at the time of Ezra, the priest/scribe, who saved Judaism from extinction after the return from Babylon. Haggai supported Ezra in getting the Temple restored. Here, Haggai is pointing out that riches aren’t the answer to life’s problems (there’s a hole in the money bag), but that God is the real answer. We need to put our hope in Him, not possessions.
