Oct. 1, 2015 (Memorial of Therese of the Child Jesus)

(Neh. 8:1-4a, 5-6, 7b-12) In today’s First Reading, we read how Ezra read the Law to the entire community including children: “those old enough to understand.” The Temple had been rebuilt; now the community had to be rebuilt. The community would be rebuilt on the Law, Torah. The community played an active participation in this reading both verbally by their assent and physically by gestures. We stress the full and active participation in our special ritual called the “mass.” We give our “amen” too.
