“Balaam gave voice to his oracle… of one who sees as the Almighty sees.” The incidents surrounding Balaam, a pagan seer, are quite comical (there’s even a talking donkey). Balaam is hired by Balak, the King of the Moabites (remember that Ruth was a Moabite) to curse the children as Israel as they attempt to conquer his territory in the Promised Land. Instead of a curse, Balaam can only bless the Israelites. The last verse mentions a staff and a star in Israel ( meaning they will be victorious and conquer the land). We see the Christmas Star being foretold in this passage.
Balaam can’t curse the Israelites because he “sees as the Almighty sees.” Would that we could see as the “Almighty sees,” we could know His will and carry that will out.
