Jan. 18, 2016 (1 Sam 15:16-23)

“Obedience is better than sacrifice.” Saul is told to do something which to our sensibilities seems quite barbaric. He doesn’t do what God told him to do and instead does something else. For the disobedience, God withdraws his favor and David will become King.

What can we learn from this? Obedience comes from the word that means “hearing” in Latin. In other words, obedience comes from hearing the voice of authority. So, to whom do you listen? Are our ears turned toward God. Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” “Speak, Lord for Your servant is listening.”
