Feb. 4, 2016 (Mark 6:7-13)

“Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two.” This was Jesus’ response to his rejection in Nazareth (we heard Luke’s version of that rejection last Sunday). He continued His ministry but now with help, the Twelve. He sent them out to do what He did; preach and heal. They are told to take nothing with them but depend on hospitality. If not received properly, move on. Like the Twelve, we are sent by Jesus, too. We are to be ambassadors for Christ. How are you doing building up the Kingdom of God?

  1. We Catholics are often criticized for “praying to the saints.” Mark tells us how Jesus sent out the twelve and they work miracles in His name. In another place He sends out the seventy-two disciples to do the same and they come back proclaiming that “even the unclean spirits were subject to them.” It seems scriptural to me that God wishes to work through His saints as well as directly with us Himself.
