Feb. 6, 2016 (Memorial of Paul Miki and companions)

Yesterday, Mark reminded the reader that there are consequences to living out the Gospel. Today, we celebrate a group that did preach the Gospel and were crucified for it. They paid the ultimate price for their discipleship. Are we willing to put ourselves out there and risk ridicule from society? Are we willing to be persecuted for being Christians? Strengthen us, Lord, that we may be firm in our resolve to follow You.

  1. Anytime I think of martyrdom and what some persons have endured for their faith, I think; “there is no way I could do that.” But then I remember other disagreeable things that I got through during my lifetime and I know that with God’s grace I could do it. I believe Martyrdoms are impossible, but I also believe, that with God all things are possible.
