Second Sunday of the Octave of Easter (Divine mercy Sunday) (2016) (John 20:19-31)

How does the truth of the Resurrection change our lives? If we really believe that Jesus lives and breathes and moves among us, how might that impact the way we live? Might we be kinder? Less judgmental? Less prejudiced? Less fearful? Might we respond more readily to the needs of the poor? Might we be humbler? Even freer? Might we become instruments of God’s mercy to others? Jesus lives! And so do we-in Him, for Him, and through Him who is God’s mercy in the flesh.

  1. A sure sign for me that Christ has made an impact on a person’s life, is when that person can forgive an enemy and even pray for their well being. We are so disconnected from God when we would like to see God punish the evil doer. More than anything God wants to see the evil doer change and repent. Then it is that God’s joy overflows as He pours out His merciful forgiveness on the one we would have punished.
