Every movement has a “turning point,” an event that directs the movement in a particular direction. That happened in today’s First Reading and it takes place in the home of Cornelius, a gentile. His whole household receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. From this point on Christianity became a whole new religion. It would no longer be a sect of Judaism like the Pharisees and Sadducees. The Church would develop as an extension of the Risen Christ in time and space. It would become the Body of Christ in the world. Do we trust one another as members of the Body of Christ? Where do we fall short?
