July 11, 2016 (Isa 1:10-17)

The prophet Isaiah is the great prophet of God’s majesty and glory. Saturday, we began a week of readings from his Book. We read from him mainly during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. His messianic prophecies are widely known and beloved. He also points out the failings of the people of his time. Ritual sacrifice will not replace sacrifice of the heart. “Learn to do good. make justice your aim; redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.” He is a prophet for our time.
