WK 21C (2016) (Luke 13:22-30)

“Enter through the narrow gate.” Salmon return from Puget Sound to Lake Washington every year to spawn. There is a 21 foot difference they have to navigate through. A narrow gate, a “fish ladder,” allows the salmon to climb the 21 feet to the fresh water level. In today’s gospel, Jesus advises us to try the narrow gate, to take the road less traveled. The church assists us with a narrow path, one that helps us ascend from this life to paradise at the other end.
