The Church gives us an Optional Memorial today of the Name of Mary. It is new to the universal calendar of the Church. It is, in fact, one of 46 masses dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Paul tells us that at Jesus’ Name “every knee must bend …” Isaiah told Israel much the same thing about the name of YHWH. In fact, that name was so sacred it could only be pronounced out loud one time a year by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement. When we venerate a name of someone one, we are actually acknowledging and honoring the person who bears that name.
