Nov. 1, 2016 (All Saints Day) (Matt. 5:1-12a)

This solemnity is not only about the saints in heaven but also about ourselves who are blessed, holy ones, saints of this earth. It gives us an opportunity to celebrate our relationship with God and with all the saints who have gone before us. Knowing this, we are fortified to assume more perfectly the demands of following in the footsteps of the saints as faithful disciples of Jesus. Few of us will someday be canonized saints. Nevertheless, we can live now manifesting that blessedness already bestowed on us. May we always be faithful like the saints, giving God eternal glory and praise.
