Oct. 31, 2016 (Phil. 2:1-4)

“Humbly regard others as more important than yourselves.” Paul was urging the community at Philippi to maintain unity. They should put “the other” ahead of themselves. In this way, to live like Christ who “emptied Himself” to become human and die for us. (The great Christological hymn follows today’s passage.) We might ask ourselves: are we truly members of the parish we “belong to” or are we individual Christians who happen to be registered at a parish?
