“…say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not…” JFK used this quote in his inaugural address. One of the great themes that runs throughout the Book of Isaiah is the idea of restoration: God will restore things and His people. So, he uses images of Eden to symbolize the restoration of the forces of nature and the Exodus as a symbol of restoring the people. Jesus fulfills these things in His restoration (healing and forgiving of sins) as He does in the miracle involving the paralytic. Jesus can restore us, too, if only we let Him.
