The O Antiphons address Christ by 7 titles and plead for Him to come: “O Sapientia” (Wisdom), “O Adonai” (Lord), “O radix Iesse” (Root of Jesse), “O Clavis David” (Key of David), “O Oriens” (Dawn), “O Rex Gentium” (King of the nations), and “O Emmanuel.”

When you arrange the first letters of these titles, you discover that they’ve been cleverly arranged to spell out Christ’s Christmas Eve response to our incessant cries of “Veni”: “Eros Cras,” He says, “I come tomorrow.”

Merry Christmas!
