Christmas 2016 (Luke 2:1-14)

The first four words of the Christmas angel’s message are words that we should relish and remember: “Do not be afraid.” These words are meant for us today, as well. If there is anyone who is afraid of Jesus, hear what He says to you: “Do not be afraid.” If anyone is afraid of coming too close to Jesus because He may ask and demand too much from you, hear what He says to you: “Do not be afraid.” If anyone is afraid that Jesus is going to condemn you, punish you, shame and blame you, hear what He says to you: “Do not be afraid.” If anyone is afraid to come regularly to church because you don’t want to act like a saint when you know very well you are still a sinner, hear what He says to you: “Do not be afraid.” “Do not be afraid” sums up the message of Christmas. These are the words that make this night holy with the love of Jesus Christ. These are the words that enable us to give “glory to God in the highest and peace to His people on earth.”

Merry Christmas!
