Today we remember the remarkable life of Dr. Martin Luther King. It is a Federal holiday. The mass prayers that I use on this day are the ones for: “Preservation of Peace and Justice.” Peace and Justice were at the heart of Dr. King’s message; so was love, understanding, and charity. I sometimes wonder what he would think and say about the condition of the world today, and, especially, what is going on in our country. I think he would stress that we are all Americans and brothers and sisters under God. I’m sure he would be civil in all his communications. We need some Dr. Kings in our world today. Where are they?

Let us celebrate Dr. King’s memory and be a person of peace and justice.
