Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday. Jesus says, “Don’t worry about your life…” Bobby McFerrin’s song tells us: “In every life, we have some trouble. When you worry you make it double. Don’t worry be happy!” Jesus gives us a better reason not to worry: trust God’s care for each of us. Some thing we might do: memorize the tender words from the First Reading by Isaiah and recall them when times are tough. In today’s gospel, Jesus was addressing people like us. When a character in the film, “O, God!” asks why God permits starvation and all the many forms of injustice, God answers,”I don’t permit it. You do.” We are called to alleviate the suffering of our sisters and brothers. It’s not just God’s job. Always, we must remember the words of Divine Mercy: “Jesus I Trust in You.” Do you trust in Jesus?
