Today’s Gospel Reading is the familiar Story of the Prodigal Son. This parable never seems to grow old. Have you ever placed yourself in the story? How have you been like the Prodigal Son? the elderly father? the second son? The parable calls for us to act with love and mercy and letting our egos go! We need to see others through the eyes of the Merciful Father. “Be merciful as the Father is merciful.”

  1. I am the “prodigal daughter” in my family of 10 (parents and 8 children)! Since my parents and 2 siblings are gone there is no one to “welcome me home” as the prodigal son was welcomed. (Even a fatted calf would be good)! But I continue to pray for their well being and for reconciliation someday…even if it happens in Heaven!
