April 27, 2017 (Acts 5:27-33)

Courage is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and in today’s reading from Acts, we see the effects of Pentecost. The cowardly timid apostles are now fearless as they appear before the Jewish Supreme Court, the Sanhedrin. They must obey God not man. I recall St.Thomas More’s last words: “I die the king’s faithful servant, but God’s first.”
