15th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Through the parable of the “Sower and the Seed” Jesus was telling His followers not to be discouraged. Since they would confront the same sort of opposition that He encountered not everyone would be converted. In the 80’s, indeed, Matthew’s community was experiencing such opposition being thrown out of the synagogue, for example. We run into obstacles today, as well. We shouldn’t be discouraged, either. We’ll run into our “thorns, birds, bad soil, ” etc. Despite thees obstacles, the harvest of the Kingdom will be great (100-60-30 fold). There will be an abundant harvest. We need to be open; we must look and listen carefully.
