The First Reading today and Thursday deal with the story of Moses at the Burning Bush. God does a personal revelation of His essence to Moses and commissions him to be His agent in freeing the Hebrews for bondage in Egypt. God commissions us, too, not as dramatic as He did for Moses, but He has plans for us, too. As the great prophet Jeremiah put it: “I [God] have plans for you…” These are plans for good not woe. Our problem is that either we don’t hear those plans or we think they will get in the way of what we want. No matter how great we think our plans for ourselves are, they can’t compare with God’s plans for our lives.
