January 26, 2018 (Required Memorial of St. Timothy and St. Titus)

Timothy, a favorite disciple of Paul’s, was the son of a Greek father and a Jewish mother, Eunice, who converted to Christianity. It was his mother and grandmother who taught Timothy his scripture. He was with Paul on his 2nd and 3rd missionary journeys. He was one of the first bishops and two letters are addressed to him. Titus was the son of pagan parents. He was with Paul at the Council of Jerusalem. A letter is addressed to him, as well. He was Bishop of Crete. Paul had great faith in him. The letters to both are ones that tell how a Bishop should act.
