Jan. 31, 2018 (2 Sam 24:2, 9-17)

In today’s reading, God is angry at David for taking a census that represented David’s desire to calculate his military might. God sees this as David’s lack of trust in God’s ability to save His chosen people from their enemies. You see, in the end, only God can save. The Psalmist regularly reminds not to place your trust in horses and chariots but in God. How is our own trust in God? “Trust in the Lord. Have faith, do not despair. Trust in the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
