Pietri Bandinelli was an attractive young man who sang in the Cathedral of Milan choir. Leonardo chose him as the model for Jesus in the Last Supper painting. Two years later Leonardo had one more apostle to paint in the picture, namely Judas. He went out in the streets and found someone who looked depraved and vicious. As he was painting his newest model, he asked the man if they had ever met before? The man told him that he had been the Jesus model. He said that much had happened in his life since then. This is what God is trying to tell us in the First Reading: repent, and all will be well. Repent not, and all will be otherwise.
