We continue this Easter Season with readings from Acts as we see the church develop and grow. Today’s reading is one of those development sections. Antioch was the 3rd largest and most important city in the Mediterranean basin of the Roman Empire. It was a very cosmopolitan city (lots of different people from various parts of the empire). This group of pagans were able to differentiate between Jews, Christians, and pagans. In fact, it was here that followers of Jesus were first called “Christian.” People who believed in Jesus no longer had their faith-based on Moses or Torah or even the Temple sacrifices. Their faith was based on Jesus Himself.
